It’s the worst thing to bring something into the world that you’re really proud of and then see it not working.
This week we’ve had some sporadic outages of different parts of the UserVoice service. Unfortunately, there’s not much we could have done to prevent this. Softlayer’s Cloudlayer, the cloud hosting that runs all of our application servers, has been extremely and unexpectedly spotty this week. This is absolutely, no-exceptions, unreasonable. We’re working hard to move off of the Cloudlayer onto 100% dedicated boxes (which all of our non-app servers are already on), which should hopefully be less spotty.
We don't forsee any issues during the transition.
There’s no proper way to express how bummed we are by these outages. We think UserVoice Helpdesk is a great product and we’ve heard the same from you, but none of that matters if the service is down. There was no way for us to predict this, but please know that we are working our hardest to move to a better hosting situation..
